City of Sarasota building permits are searched on the city's portal at ftgportal.sarasotafl.gov, not on the Sarasota County permit search. In that city file, 6,554 permits have an application date from September 15, 2025 through September 14, 2026, and 1,456 of them (22.2%) were in Permit Issued status.

How to search the city portal
Open Building Permit Lookup. The form says to enter only the street name, without a directional prefix, a suffix, or a street type. For 975 Charlotte Ave, use street number 975 and street name CHARLOTTE.
Permit Type opens on All Permits, status on All, and the date list on Any Date. Open, Closed, or a shorter window (30 days, 3 months, or 1 year) drops rows. Some residential permit data prior to 1997 may not be online. Leave the Owner Name box blank.

4,350 (66.4%) were Closed. Permit Issued was 1,456. Pending Inspection was 413, Pending Commencement Notice 212, Pending Certificate Issue 51, Plan Approved 1, and Pending Plan Corrections 1. Those six statuses are the 2,134 (32.6%). The other 70 were Withdrawn (56), Cancel Permit (7), Final Inspections Completed (4), Final Approval Denied (2), or Expired (1).
Folder type is mostly Over the Counter Permit (3,729) or Building and Zoning (2,026). Tree Permit is 426, Private Provider is 372, and one row is Storm Damage/Hurricane.

On the city portal, October 17, 2026, street number 975 and street name CHARLOTTE (All Permits, status All, Any Date) returned 11 rows. Each opened record is lot 5, block C, Robinhood Woods. The list gives the application date, type, and status. The record gives the work words, issued date, and closed date. 2025-004153 and 2026-003486 are not in the export behind the counts.
