County file, city file, North Port
Both county sites opened October 20, 2026. The Sarasota County permit search explains which file is which. Use it for any county record, not only a roof. The City of Sarasota permit search is the city file. A house outside the city is a different office.
North Port is not the county file. Its Accela site, opened October 21, 2026, says "Welcome to the City of North Port, FL." The county permit search says the City of Sarasota, Venice, North Port, and Longboat Key keep their own offices, and that Longboat Key also crosses into Manatee County. This page does not cover the Manatee County side of Longboat Key.

Do you need a permit to replace a roof?
Roof permit requirements are that office's rules. In the City of Sarasota, re-roofing is the roof replacement permit, a permit for roof replacement.
The permitting home, opened October 20, 2026, has a "Building & Zoning Over the Counter Permit" item. An over-the-counter permit can be submitted online, and once it is reviewed and approved, the permit is e-mailed. The job list is quoted as printed, including the page's own spelling:

The detail page for 2021-006703 was not opened. The results row does not print an owner, a phone, or an email. Expired does not say the work was finished. Page 2 includes other Roofing rows, none of them 2922 Goodrich Ave, and none listed here. Page 3 was not opened. This page uses one address.
What a roof permit still does not say
The Goodrich row does not say whether a carrier will write a policy on the house, and it does not say the flood zone. That lookup is the Sarasota County flood zone and evacuation zone page. An empty search is not proof the work never happened. The county permit search says an empty result is not an all-clear.
